The Pink Philondendron

Botanic chic

Materials used: merino sheep, acrylic wool and recycled cotton

Dimensions: 1.30 meters x 2.00 meters (52″ x 79″)

Story: A family in Utrecht had problems with their living room and kitchen. The rooms where combined to one spacious room with a high ceiling. The echo caused a lot of noise pollution. The family asked if a wall hanging could help solve the noise problem.

A well known fact about wool is that it absorbs noise. To optimalize, I created a rug with different heights and depths and different techniques. This way, sound waves are absorbed even more.

With this knowledge and their wishes, I created this design for them.
